Arawak The Arawak were an ethnic group which had settled in the Greater Antilles, the Amazon Basin, Florida, and the foothills of the Andes by the late 15th century.
Perhaps the best known group of Arawak are the Taíno, who lived (or lives, if the Arawak groups that call themselves the Taino count) on Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and the eastern tip of Cuba. The Arawak people who inhabited the Bahamas were called the Lucayan. Modern coutries with the Arawak people in their history include:
